HD Wave broadcaster FAQ

Below is a list of commonly asked questions and answers on using and installing The HD Wave broadcaster.

Note: There might be a delay between the live capture and the website video within 5 seconds; this is due to the encoding and decoding process.

 

Q: I’m having problems installing the new HD Wave broadcaster – application crashes when installing. I uninstalled the old version and now I’m trying to install the latest version of HD Wave broadcaster.

A: The error is generated by the fact that some other application is using the virtual camera driver. Before re-installing the HD Wave you should make sure that no other applications are using the virtual camera. You can restart your computer in order to make sure that no application is using the virtual camera.

This problem should not appear when installing the HD Wave application for the first time.

 

Q: I am not able to use the selected video source (like webcam).

A: The error appears when the video source (your webcam) is in use by its native application or other applications, such as IM, chat, etc. while you are streaming it via HD Wave broadcaster. If it’s already in use, quit the application and try to stream again via HD Wave broadcaster.

 

Q: After I click “Start Stream” the video quality is ok on the web but poor in the application window.

A: This can occur when your computer’s CPU does not have the processing power to accomplish both tasks. The HD Wave application was built so that in the scenario it is tasking your computer’s CPU, the video playback in the application will be of a lesser quality – so your stream quality will not suffer.

 

Q: The Live Stream is “buffering” from time to time.

A: If the Live Stream is “buffering” from time to time, this is typically due to a lack of system resources on your computer or your internet connection being overloaded. You can go to Settings and choose a lower value for the keyframe interval setting (1 to 10 seconds)

 

Q: I use Virtual Cam to broadcast the video from Skype and there is an echo on the channel page.

A: We recommend to close the sound from your browser and listen to one sound when using Skype. If you have Windows 7 as Operating System you will need to set the browser muted – you can do that by using the Volume Mixer application.

Below you can view the steps that you need to do on Windows 7.

You will need to right-click on the volume icon from task bar and select Open Volume Mixer.

The following window will open:

Q: Why isn’t my audio clear when live streaming from my laptop?

A: It’s possible that the volume is too loud. Laptop speakers as a rule are not high quality and cannot be turned up too loud. In addition, check the Control Panel in “Computer” for active equalizers and disable them or reduce the bass.

Right-click the audio icon in the lower right corner of your desktop and select Playback Devices:

Click your speakers and then click Properties:

Disable Bass Boost box:

or adjust the Boost Level to None:

or check the Disable All Enhancements box and then check if the problem persists:

You may also check the volume level of the Speakers:

Drag the volume bar to lower the volume and reduce the “static” on the audio source. If the volume is too high it may cause audio issues.

 

Q: How can I stream 1080p on mobile devices using HD Wave?

Before starting to stream on 1080p, make sure the viewers devices supports 1080p. Then install and run HD Wave application.

After installing HD Wave use the following configuration, that is suggested and confirmed to be working as expected on mini iPad 6.0.2:

  • Encoding Profile: 4.1
  • Video Encoder: H.264
  • FPS: 25
  • Bitrate: 1024
  • Video Input Size: 1920X1080
  • Audio Channels: Stereo
  • Audio Sample Rate: 44100
  • Audio Bitrate: 128
