Broadcast Requirements

For broadcasting on Streaming platform you will require a modern PC running a Window 7 or 8 Operating System. If you are streaming with HD Wave you will need to have a computer that is at least as powerful as the examples given below for the 1080p and 720p broadcasts.

If streaming an external video source (from capture card or camera) then the following PC requirements apply based off of the video source you would like to stream.

Minimum Broadcasting Requirements:

1080p HD (1920×1080)

  • Bitrate: 2000 Kbs recommended
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme i7-975 3.33GHz
  • Memory: 4GB – any DDR3 memory
  • HDD: 10MB available disk space

720p HD (1280×720)

  • Bitrate: 1200 Kbs recommended
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 3GHz
  • Memory: 4GB
  • HDD: 10MB available disk space

480p (854×480)

  • Bitrate: 512 Kbs recommended
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz
  • Memory: 1GB
  • HDD: 10MB available disk space

Server Requirements

Your server hardware specifications should be:

  • CPU: AMD/INTEL Quad Core @ 2.13 Ghz or better
  • RAM: Minimum 4 GB or higher (minimum DDR2 or higher)
  • HDD: 2 x 146GB 15K RPM Serial-Attach SCSI 3Gbps
    3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive or better
  • 1000Mbs NIC Connection to Internet

 

You also need to have installed into your server the following software:

Capture Requirements

We are continually testing equipment as new cameras and capture devices are always being introduced. If you are an equipment manufacturer and would like your gear added to the list or if you are having a good experience with particular hardware, please contact us so that we can add your camera to this list.

Note: We recommend separating the audio and video in order to reduce load on the actual capture device. We highly suggest you pull in the audio through the ‘microphone in’ port on the PC’s motherboard.
