Encoding video formats

Video encoding is the process of preparing the video for output, where the digital video is encoded to meet proper formats for playback.

If you encode a video with Monster Encoder, these are the output files:

  • for Web Player the encoded video will be mp4.
  • for Roku the encoded video will be mp4.
  • for Mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, Android,etc) the encoded video will be WebM  and mp4  in three different sizes: 144p , 240p, 360p (the video format played on the mobile device will depend on the browser used).
  • for HTML5 the video format will be WebM and mp4  (the video format played will depend on the browser used – for example on Firefox and Opera the video format played will be WebM).
